My approach
I’m passionate about my work and the benefits of counselling. I offer an integrative humanistic counselling approach. This means that your needs are at the forefront of our work together, and I will tailor my approach to benefit you. I offer a safe space for you to talk openly in confidence and without judgement. I have a calm, approachable and down to earth manner and will always treat you with respect, care and dignity.
I utilise my training and expertise to work alongside you to help you find solutions to your issues and achieve your goals for counselling. At times this may be challenging but you can rest assured I will always be working with your best interests at heart.
What to expect
Free initial meeting
Entering counselling can feel daunting, and taking that first step is often the hardest. I understand and respect that. Many people find it helpful to meet me first to get a sense of whether I’m someone they feel comfortable working with.
I offer a free, no‑pressure, 30‑minute informal meeting where you can ask any questions and get a feel for how I work, with no obligation to continue. This meeting can take place in person in my counselling room, or remotely via phone or Zoom, whichever feels most comfortable for you.
First session / assessment
Our first session is a chance to explore what you want from counselling, your needs, goals, and what you hope to change or understand. It also allows me to assess whether counselling is likely to be safe and beneficial for you at this time.
This session helps me get to know you and begin to consider how best to tailor my approach so the work fits you as an individual.
Counselling Sessions
Every client and situation is unique, so it isn’t always possible to predict exactly how many sessions will be needed. If you prefer, we can agree an initial block of sessions (usually six). We will then review our progress together, and if we feel there is more work to do, we can agree another block (for example, a further six) and review again.
Working in blocks helps maintain focus on your goals and keeps you in control of the number of sessions you choose to have.
What is counselling?
Counselling is a process of self-discovery. It provides a safe and confidential space for you to speak freely and the opportunity to show your intimate and vulnerable sides. Counselling provides the perfect space to release and be free from long held emotions, to gain different perspectives and reconnect with your true self. It finds solutions to personal issues, freedom from mental health problems and a greater sense of wellbeing.
